Winter Solstice Ritual December 21, 2012

December 21st is the winter solstice, or Yule, one of eight festival days or sabbats on the Wiccan Wheel of the Year. At this time, the Oak King vanquishes the Holly King and we celebrate the return of longer days.

Suitable spells for Yule include those for personal alchemy to enhance your charisma and increase your chances of success in any endeavor.

Colours for Yule

Choose red, green, gold and black for your altar candles.

Winter Solstice Correspondences

Frankincense, cloves, orange and myrrh are ideal choices for oil and incense. Decorate your altar with holly, ivy, mistletoe and red and white flowers. Stones are turquoise and jet.

Yule Menu Suggestions

Serve mulled wine or red wine punch, Cornish hens with port sauce, wild rice and roasted winter vegetables. Finish your feast with spice cakes and cookies.
