The full moon on October 31, 2020 is a Blue Moon, and it falls on the Witches’ New Year’s Eve or Samhain. This creates extra special energy for performing your spells and rituals. As this full moon falls after October 23rd, the sun in Scorpio will produce a Taurus full earth moon. And since this full blue moon occurs at 10:51 AM EDT/2:51 PM UTC, you could celebrate the blue moon on October 30th and Samhain on October 31st, or combine the two ceremonies on October 31st. October 31, 2020 Blue Moon Ritual
Some sources state that a Blue Moon is the second full moon in a month, while the Farmers’ Almanac definition of a Blue Moon is the third full moon in a season with four full moons. Since each season typically has only three full moons with definite names for each, an extra moon could cause a mix-up, so the third moon is termed blue. Other sources hold that a true Blue Moon only occurs once every three or four years, when a full moon happens twice in the same astrological sign.
Regardless, a Blue Moon is always an ideal time for powerful spells and ceremonies.
